Meet Katrina, our Assistant Quantity Surveyor...

First things first, can you explain a bit about your role at TWO PLUS TWO?

I am an Assistant QS and have just completed my final year of my degree apprenticeship. My role at TWO PLUS TWO involves supporting the commercial teams on various Contracts. I have an incredible flair for organising a well-structured file and can fold an A3 drawing perfectly! 😉

How long have you been at the company?

6 years.

What led you to this career?

By chance and pure coincidence!

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Being involved in live projects. I am currently working on an archaeology project which I find fascinating, and I enjoy sharing the experience with my children as it encourages them to think about new things and share them with their friends.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position/about your industry?

“A Woman in Construction?” – the biggest misconception is that the Construction industry is still aimed at men.

What’s the best thing about working at TWO PLUS TWO?

The people, the way you are treated and encouraged. It is great working for a company with genuine morals — that do what they say they do.

It’s your last meal on earth, what’s on the menu?

Cheese soufflĂ© from The Beaumont in Hexham, a huge pile of toast with lashings of real butter, and a lemon top Ice Cream (it’s a Northern thing).

What’s one thing you’re learning to do outside of work at the moment?

My daughter and I are learning to cross stitch.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Friendly, very chatty and definitely don’t take things too seriously!
